Social Media Policy
This policy describes the social media platforms that the CRU uses to communicate with members of the public, what information you can expect to receive and how we interact using these platforms
Purpose
The CRU uses social media to:
- build awareness of rights and increase the use of services available to energy and water customers
- increase awareness and understanding of the role and function of the CRU and deepen engagement with relevant stakeholders
Our social media is not intended as a way of contacting the CRU or for submitting media queries.
Availability
The CRU updates and monitors social media accounts Monday-Friday during normal office hours.
The CRU does not accept any responsibility for lack of service due to downtime of any social media platform.
Staffing and responses to posts
The CRU’s Communications and Human Resources functions manage the CRU's social media accounts
Content and any responses are posted only by staff of the CRU and authorised third parties.
We may direct you to a document or page on our website or to contact a particular team in the CRU if we are unable to fully answer a complex or technical query in a short format suitable for social media.
You can also contact the CRU through any of the contact details listed on this website.
Following and re-posting content
The CRU may follow other accounts on social media. This does not imply endorsement by the CRU of any kind.
Any content we re-post/re-tweet does not imply endorsement of the message, posts or individual or organisation who posted it
Moderation policy
The CRU does not accept responsibility for the content of any comments by 3rd parties posted to social media platforms and will remove comments that are deemed by CRU to:
- contain abusive, obscene, indecent or offensive language, or link to obscene or offensive material
- not be relevant to the content posted
- constitute spam or promote or advertise products
- be designed to cause nuisance to the page administrator or other users
