Energy
The CRU has an important role in regulating the activities of energy companies to protect customers’ interests and to maintain security of supply.
Water
In its role as economic regulator, the CRU monitors performance, approves policies and charges and sets allowed revenue for Uisce Éireann.
Safety
In addition to the registration of electrical contractors and gas installers, the CRU is responsible for the safety regulation of natural gas supply, transmission, distribution, storage and use and the regulation of upstream designated petroleum activities.
Licences, Consents and Authorisations
Under its remit, the CRU processes applications for various types of licences, authorisations and consents.
