News Update - April
We highlight our publications, consultations and decisions over the last few months.

Updating Uisce Eireann’s Non-Domestic Tariff Framework
We issued a consultation on Uisce Éireann’s Non-Domestic and Trade Effluent Tariff Framework and a policy paper for setting non-domestic and wastewater tariffs. Uisce Éireann charges non-domestic customers for supplying water to their premises and for removing wastewater (including trade effluent) from their premises. These charges are approved by the CRU in the Water Charges Plan. This paper sets out Uisce Éireann Irish Water's proposal for implementing new non-domestic water and wastewater tariffs to apply to its non-domestic customers, commencing on 01 October 2025.

Electricity Connection Policy-Generation & System Services – Charging and Rebating Methodology Consultation
In September 2024, the CRU published its Electricity Connection Policy – Generation & System Services Decision Paper. This set out that a separate CRU consultation should be carried out to review charging and rebating methodologies for transmission customers. The decision required EirGrid Group to provide a detailed proposal on how it was expected that charging and rebating methodologies could be reformed. The consultation discusses four main areas and invites responses on topics including:
- Streamlined Charging Model
- Rebating Methodology
- Cost of TSO/TAO Oversight Time
- Payment Schedule.
Comments can be submitted via the consultation platform, by close of business on Friday 25th April 2025.

Automatic Recognition System
We have published a new web page and documents regarding the recognition process of professional qualifications of EEA Certificate Holders, for the professions of Registered Gas Installer (RGI) and Qualified Certifier (QC) to be eligible to register to join the RGI scheme or Safe Electric scheme. The implementation of an Automatic Recognition System aims to improve compliance with EU Directive 2005/36/EC.

Consultation on Guarantees of Origin for Renewable Gas: Development of the Supervisory Framework
The Framework relates to gGOs for grid-injected gas only from renewable sources. gGOs are electronic certificates, issued to renewable gas producers, whose sole function is to demonstrate that a portion of a particular supplier’s demand was met by renewable gas. The CRU is looking for feedback from stakeholders including producers, gas suppliers, consumer interest groups, industry groups, members of the public and all other interested parties. Responses should be submitted via our consultation platform by the close of business on Thursday, 22nd May 2025.
